The History of Sound + Nagesprek

4 maart

What does love look like when the world is at war? When safety disappears, futures become uncertain and daily life is shaped by fear and loss, love does not simply vanish – but it does change. After the screening of History of Sound there will be a discussion, led by InScience. Together with Eveline Buchheim, Senior Researcher at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam, we delve deeper into these themes. Writer and poet Sholeh Rezazadeh will also be in attendance, telling stories of love amidst war.

This programme explores how love survives, transforms and resists in times of war. Through stories, conversation and artistic reflection, we examine romantic love, family bonds, friendship and solidarity under extreme conditions. We also turn our attention to queer love, asking what additional layers and challenges it brings to these questions.

The work of Eveline Buchheim focuses on the social and cultural history of war, with particular attention to personal experiences, gender, memory and human interaction in times of conflict. Sholeh Rezazadeh will read stories that give a human voice to love and longing amidst war.
