20 mei

One of Ireland’s most celebrated novelists, Eimear McBride, is coming to Nijmegen! Noted for its innovative representation of the inner world of a young Irish woman, McBride’s sensational debut novel, A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing, won almost every award going, including the Goldsmiths Prize, the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and the Irish Novel of the Year Award. Since then, she has published three more highly successful novels, most recently The City Changes Its Face (2025), as well as a book-length feminist essay, and a set of short dramatic monologues.

McBride will read from her work and be interviewed by literary scholar Joy Koopman (Radboud University). There will also be room for questions from audience members.

This event is brought to you by Radboud University and Bibliotheek Gelderland Zuid. It is organised as part of the EFACIS Irish Itinerary and co-funded by Culture Ireland.
